  1. Quarterly monitoring can be discontinued when at least two consecutive monitoring determinations, made not less than 5 working days apart show exposure less than or equal to the Action Level.
  2. Within one month of establishment of a Regulated work are, the Area Director should be notified of: a) the address and location of each establishment with one or more regulated work areas, and b) the number of employees in each regulated work area during normal operations including maintenance.
  3. Required when airborne monitoring indicates exposure at or above the PEL.
  4. A written Respiratory Protection Program is not required for exposures below the PEL unless there is voluntary or required use of tight fitting respirators. If filtering face pieces selected for nuisance levels of organic vapors are provided for voluntary use, information should be provided for those employees from Appendix D of 1910.134.
  5. Skin protection is required to prevent contact with liquid Vinyl Chloride, regardless of the airborne concentration.
  6. Baseline medical evaluations are not required for Vinyl Chloride exposures below the Action Level. It may be prudent to obtain baseline medical information as a matter of good safety and health practice. Your company physician should be consulted for guidance on this matter.
  7. The warning sign requirements are slightly different for PVC, VC or PVC waste so the specific section of the standard [1910.1017 (l)] should be consulted for specific requirements.
  8. If there is no business successor, applicable records should be transferred to the Area Director by registered mail and employees should be notified of the transfer in writing. If there is a business successor, records should be transferred according to requirements established in 1910.1020.
